Throughout history, the concept of angels has captivated the human imagination and played a significant role in various religious and spiritual traditions. Angels are often depicted as divine beings, messengers of God, and guardians of humanity. But are angels real?
The belief in angels varies across different religious and spiritual traditions. Angels are often viewed as benevolent and loving entities that offer guidance and support to individuals on their spiritual journey. In art, literature, and popular culture, angels are depicted as ethereal beings with wings, radiating light, and offering solace and protection. This symbolic representation allows individuals to connect with the concept of angels on a metaphorical level, regardless of their belief in their literal existence. The question of whether angels are real remains a subject of debate and personal interpretation.
One of my favorite stories speaks volumes to the belief in angels.
Several years ago I was driving from a training through the Nantahala Gorge in North Carolina, in which if you don’t already know is about a 20 minute drive through a gorge in a mountain with many twists, curves and steep drops alongside near a section of water rapids. I had no inclination that anything was wrong. As I drove to my destination, mind you I was on the road for a total of about an hour to my destination. I get to where I am going to and go in. When I come back out to my car around 30 minutes later, I get in to leave and when I turn my wheel drivers side tire hub does not move but the steering axel moves the left side passenger tire. I realize my car is completely immobile. Of course I have to have my vehicle towed to a mechanic and later find out that the sway bar connecting my tire hub to the axel had completely broken in half. I was astonished and had chills that it had chosen at that very moment I arrived safely to my destination to break. I know to this day there was an angel watching over me. Could it have been a coincidence? Possibly, but whatever it was I am thankful I made it back safely. I certainly believe in angels, do you?
The belief in angels has endured throughout human history, offering solace, guidance, and inspiration to countless individuals across different cultures and religions. While the existence of angels cannot be proven or disproven by scientific means, the belief in their presence continues to shape the lives and beliefs of many. Whether one perceives angels as literal beings or symbolic representations, their significance lies in the comfort and hope they provide to those who seek divine intervention and guidance in their lives.
Another personal experience I enjoy sharing that truly defines my belief in angels happened many years ago, and is still vividly remembered and treasured today.
My son was 9 years old and although a precocious child he was not one for making up stories or telling lies. Late one Sunday evening on the day before Labor Day of 2002 he was in the garage which had been enclosed and turned into a bonus room feeding his pet iguana Spike. He came running excitedly into my office where I sat working on my computer. He was filled with high anxiety and disbelief when he told me what he had seen. He explained that as he was feeding his iguana, the iguana was gazing over his shoulder and my son suddenly felt a presence behind him, so he turned to look behind him and saw a heavenly being. He explained that he could not tell if it was a woman or a man but it was glowing with the brightest light he had ever seen and he said it was so tall he couldn’t even see how far in height it stood. My reaction was immediate concern and genuine interest so I had to gather my senses a bit and I gently asked him if it frightened him? His response was ” NO, it was BEAUTIFUL! I get chills thinking about his reaction and dismay at this experience. As I lay in bed that night I was curious why this celestial being would present itself to him, and what could it mean. I then realized that Angels are often sent as messengers. But what message would it bring to a 9 year old child? A little pre curser here, my best friend had been going through cancer treatments and had just had a stem cell treatment done and had called me to tell me she was in remission per her doctors, It looked like the treatment had worked. We were both very excited when I visited her, but she was quite sick from the treatment so I had not seen her in quite a few days. Back to the day after the angel sighting, I decided to call my friend and there was a different gentleman that answered the phone in her hospital room. This was a little alarming so I sat on it for a short while and didn’t want to bother her family since we had just reconnected recently. As I waited I happened to have the idea to search her name on the internet and I was flabbergasted that there was an obituary for her and she had passed away on the same day as the angel sighting Sunday Sept 1. My heart was broken but I now knew why the angel had come to visit my son. I can only assume this experience may have frightened me, so it came through to an innocent, believing child. I am forever blessed and thankful for this message.

- Unexplained fragrances or scents: Some individuals claim to detect pleasant fragrances or scents that have no identifiable source. These aromas are often described as heavenly or otherworldly and may be associated with angelic presence.
- Feeling a gentle touch or presence: People have described experiencing a gentle touch or a sense of being accompanied, even when physically alone. This sensation can be comforting and may be interpreted as an angel’s presence.
- Seeing flashes of light or sparkles: Some individuals report seeing flashes of light or sparkles out of the corner of their eyes. These phenomena are sometimes associated with angelic energy or the presence of angels.
- Receiving guidance or messages: Believers often attribute guidance or messages from angels. This can occur through intuitive thoughts, inner voices, or a feeling of being guided toward a particular direction or decision.
- Angelic feathers or feathers appearing unexpectedly: Finding feathers in unusual places or coming across feathers that are associated with angels, such as pure white or with a unique pattern, is considered by some as a sign of angelic presence.
- Coincidences or synchronicities: Some people interpret meaningful coincidences or synchronicities as signs of angelic intervention. These events may align with personal circumstances, desires, or prayers.
- Hearing angelic music or celestial sounds: Some individuals claim to hear angelic music or celestial sounds that are soothing and ethereal. These auditory experiences are often associated with angelic presence.
It’s important to note that these signs and experiences are highly subjective and can vary from person to person.
Believers find personal meaning and significance in these signs, relying on their faith and intuition to interpret them as indications of angelic presence.
